Barbara Walters Scott

Barbara Walters Scott passed away on August 31, 2017.  Barbara was born February 26, 1936 to parents Robert Haskel Walters and Cynthia Thurman.

Barbara is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Gene L. Scott of Lewis Center, Oh; daughter, Janie and son-in-law Ronald Doles of Lewis Center; daughter Leslie and son-in-law Charles Thomas Sapp of Powell, OH; son Gene Paul Scott and daughter-in-law Alexandra of Wadsworth, OH; three grandchildren, Amy Doles of Cape Coral, FL., Travis Scott of East Lansing, MI. and Taylor Sapp of Powell, OH.

Barbara graduated from Winchester City High School in Winchester, KY. While living in Kentucky, she worked for the Winchester Sun newspaper as a proofreader and later as the assistant editor for what is now the Clay City Times newspaper. While living in Norton, OH, she processed title’s for the Bishop Buick dealership. While living in Columbus, she worked for a real estate office.

Barbara liked to travel and she and Gene visited all the lower 48 states. Barbara was an avid reader.

The family would like to express our thanks to the wonderful help of the OSU Medical Center for her care and treatment for esophageal cancer. She remained cancer free for the past three years.

A private service will be held for family members on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Villages at Walker Woods Clubhouse. 2845 Walker Woods Blvd., Lewis Center, OH, 43035. Pastor Sean Spoelstra of Encounter Church in Dublin will be officiating. A remembrance will be held at the clubhouse afterward from 3 to 5 p.m. for family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to OSU The James Cancer Center, Columbus, Ohio.
