Cristopher McKay Henkaline


Cristopher McKay Henkaline, age 49, passed away at Riverside Methodist Hospital surrounded by his loving family after a ten year battle with addiction to heroin.  He was born on May 20, 1968 in Euclid, Ohio.  Cris is survived by his parents, Sally and Mike Henkaline; children, Skylar and Cody Henkaline; granddaughter, Ava; brother, Todd (Laura) Henkaline; niece, Elizabeth; nephew, Maxwell; and fiancé, Ginger.  He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert & Gayle Sarver and John & Marian Henkaline.  Cris graduated in 1987 from Worthington High School.  He was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during the Gulf War.  Cris also worked for many years as a meat manager at Giant Eagle.  He was an avid Buckeye football fan.  Cris never met a stranger, had an infectious laugh, was warm, giving and just all around well liked.  He was truly loved and will be deeply missed.  A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 2, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Faith Covenant Church, 3607 Dempsey Road, Westerville, OH 43081.  The family requests no flowers be sent.  Please visit www.OhioCremation.org to leave the family an online condolence.

    Hal and I have very Fond memories of Chris. He was a good man I helped him sell a home in Gahanna and buy a home and Hal knew Chris as his meat person at Giant Eagle. We again are so sorry for his family and God Bless his children . He truly wanted to provide for his Family. Addiction is a terrible curse. God Bless, Hal and Michele McClaine

    My deepest sympathy,s.I met Chris back when we both worked for Big Bear.What a great guy.I will remember Chris for being such a good person to work with and being a freinds with.

    I am so sorry to hear about Chris. I know your hearts are broken. I remember so many times your talking about him at work. There were a lot of things to be proud of about him. The loss of a child is never easy no matter how old they are. God bless and keep you both and his children.
