Dale Edmund Lofland, deceased November 16, 2018, was born in Columbus, Ohio on May 3, 1926. He met the love of his life, Jean, in the late 1930’s and they were married for 69 years, having 5 children. Dale is survived by 4 children and 3 grandchildren.
Dale served in the Navy and then earned a BA in business from The Ohio State University. After several years at various companies, Dale formed his own company “Dale’s Remodeling” and practiced his master carpenter skills until his retirement.
Dale was an avid outdoorsman who loved adventure travel. A favorite trip included exploring Carlsbad Caverns and camping in Baja California in Mexico. Dale was an avid cave explorer, and was active in the Columbus Outdoor Program, National Speliological Society, and the West Virginia Cave Research Center. He served on boards and assisted in the mapping of many caves, as well as spearheading cave conservation efforts. Dale also volunteered for the Habitat for Humanity after he retired.
A celebration of his life will be held at 2 PM on Tuesday, November 27 at Jean and Dale’s last home, Brookdale at 3500 Trillium Crossing, Columbus, OH 43235.
