Darrell E. Baker, age 79, a resident of Delaware, Ohio, since 1989, died Friday April 23, 2021 at St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville after a brief illness. He was born May 2, 1941 in Columbus, Ohio. On March 28, 1986 he married Meredith Steiner Sammons and together they shared 35 years. In addition to his wife Meredith, he is survived by children: Cindy (Paul) Fenstemaker of Columbus, Dan Baker of Okeechobee FL. Steve Baker also of Okeechobee FL. Dr. Lynne Sammons of Jupiter FL. Richard Sammons of Palm Beach FL and Ny NY. Jeff Sammons of Columbus, Ohio and several grandchildren. Darrell retired from Huffer Roofing Co in Columbus, and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and Moose Lodge in Delaware, Ohio. He supported his wife Meredith and his daughters in their interest in Saddlebred Horse Shows and Standard bred racing. He was a longtime friend and supporter of Twin Rivers Charity Horse Show in Delaware. He was solely responsible for the exhibitors reception as well as the organization of stalls, feed and bedding for all exhibitors. He had an unyielding devotion to his family, friends and all animals. A Special thanks to his daughter Cindy and her husband Paul for their kindness and love shared in his final weeks. Due to the pandemic A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Contributions may be directed to the Delaware County Humane Society in Darrell’s memory.
