Francis C. DeMatteis


Francis (Frank) Charles DeMatteis Sr., age 90, passed away on Saturday September 1, 2018. Frank will always be remembered as a family man who loved his wife, two sons and daughter-in-laws, three daughters and son-in-laws, grandchildren, great grandchildren as well as extended family members.

Frank graduated from Aquinas High School in 1945 and went on to build a business as a self employed contractor. He was an avid fan of all sports but especially loved the Buckeyes. He was a member of the Guild Athletic Club (GAC’s) where he had many friends, fun memories, and was proud to serve the club as president.  Frank never passed up a fun game of poker with friends and family and was fondly nicknamed by family as the “little hot dog” for always having the winning hand.

Frank was born on April 2, 1928 to the late Albert DeMatteis and Rose (Bianco) Klein.  Also preceded in death by his wife Theresa (Capparuccini) DeMatteis and his son Dan DeMatteis.  Frank will lovingly be remembered by his children Frank (Kimberly) DeMatteis Jr., Sharon (David) Nye, Jeanne (Vince) Amato, and Janice (Indol) Moore: grandchildren Frankie DeMatteis lll, Kimberly (Patrick) DeZellar, Matthew (Jen) DeMatteis, Ryan (Sara) DeMatteis, Shane (Stephanie) Nye, Corey (Chelsea) DeMatteis, Ashlee (Nathan) Hunt,  Brittany (Tony) Gallione, Alyssa and Dominic Amato,: 9 great grandchildren: sister Carolyn Marshall, brother Butch (Patti) DeMatteis and very dear cousin Jean Albanese: numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Relatives are invited to St. Brendan’s Church September 10, 2018 at 10:30 AM where his Funeral Mass will be held.  Closing prayers will follow at his burial site at St. Joseph Cemetery.
