Janet A. Ward

Janet A. (DeWyer) Ward, age 82, fell asleep in death on December 1st, 2018, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mildred (Young) DeWyer and by her husband, Herman Ward. She is survived by her daughter, Gina (Ward) George; grandson Phillip George; great-grandson Rilen George; brother, Robert Dale (Barbara) DeWyer; niece Karen (Ed) Black; three great-nephews; and one great-great niece.

Jan worked for many years in dental practices for Dr. Herb Urell, and later for his son Dr. Jerry Urell and other associates. She also spent more than 20 years sharing the Bible’s hope with others as a fulltime pioneer minister of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Jan dedicated her life to Jehovah on April 25th, 1976, and found true joy in helping others to know Jehovah God. She had unshakeable faith in God’s kingdom (Matt. 6:9,10) and looked forward to the promise that when that kingdom rules, “…there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous” (Acts 24:15). That promise also brings comfort to her family and to the many friends she leaves behind.

A memorial service for Jan will be held on Sunday, December 9th, at 5:30 PM, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1401 Brown Road, Columbus, OH 43223. The family will remember Jan with friends beginning at 4:30, with the open service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jan’s memory are welcome to either the worldwide work of Jehovah’s Witnesses (jw.org) or to one of her all-time favorite places, The Wilds (https://give.columbuszoo.org/wilds-commemorative-gift).

Arrangements entrusted to Ohio Cremation & Memorial Society.
