John Christopher “Chris” McCamey

McCamey, Chris photo

John Christopher (Chris) McCamey (born November 15, 1959) passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 11, 2017.

He is survived by his children Jordan (Jessica Kirsner) McCamey, Devonie McCamey, Kendell McCamey, and Ian McCamey, and their mother Kelly McCamey; his father Charley McCamey; his sisters Kathy (Jason) Abbott and Colleen (Paul) Woodbury; his niece Lauren Woodbury; and many McCamey and Umbs relatives. He is preceded in death by his loving mother Jill Suzanne (Umbs) McCamey and grandmother Helen Marie (Bensinger) Umbs, with whom he shared a great love of music.

Chris was a lifelong musician. In the 1980s, he played bass with several local area bands, including Amy and the Boys and The Pointe. He also played bass for the praise team at Discover Christian Church for many years. Chris worked as a stockbroker and was owner of Sierra Brokerage Services until the early 2000s. He was also passionate about working on and learning about cars.

He was a loving father who was steadfastly supportive and proud of his four children. He gave them unconditional love, abundant advice and motivation, and the biggest, warmest hugs.

In lieu of flowers, the family will gratefully accept donations to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention at https://afsp.donordrive.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=donorDrive.personalCampaign&participantID=1272681.

  • Pamela Foreman says:

I had wanted to make it to the memorial service, but regretfully, I will not be able to attend. Chris and I go way back along with his sister Kathy. With the exception of a few Facebook acknowledgements and a surprise visit to my home one day, I’ve not spoken with Chris for some time. It didn’t stop my heart from breaking when I heard about his death, such a tragic loss of life. My prayers are for his soul and his family and friends. I hope you remember the laughter, the joy, the life lessons, and his laughter. Boy, you can’t help but remember his laugh. You’ll be in my thoughts and prayers. Much love, Pamela Foreman

old times in “stockbrokerage” or “guitaring”,
    I’ll think of Chris!!
