Jose Gundin

Jose Manuel Gundin, age 74, of Westerville, Ohio passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2019. He was born on October 8, 1944 in Colon, Panama and became a United States citizen after serving in the U.S. Air Force. After serving in the military, Jose received his Master’s Degree from Ohio University and worked as an accountant throughout his life; a career that he truly enjoyed.   In his free time he loved to golf and was also a fan of watching all the major tournaments. He enjoyed listening to old country music, where often he would dance along. He was also a fan of old Western movies; a car enthusiast, and of course, an Ohio State Fan. He enjoyed eating at Bob Evans and Donato’s Pizza, just a few of his favorites and he was known for having quite a sweet tooth. Coffee with cookies being one of his go-to snacks.  He liked being outdoors and working in his yard.  Jose was known as a “sharp dressed man” and really enjoyed shopping to add to his well-tailored wardrobe.  First and foremost, he was a family man who relished in time spent with loved ones, especially his grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parent, Amadeo and Catalina Valdez Gundin

Jose is survived by his son, Joe (Lynn) Gundin, Jr.; sisters, Victoria Gundin of Paulson and Fermina Gundin; brother, Armando Gundin; and grandchildren, Olivia, Kaci, Dalton, Emily, and Jordin Gundin.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to beloved family member, Mary Southall and the Mt. Carmel East Nursing Staff for their care during this time. There will be a gathering to honor Jose’s life on Saturday, August 3, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. with military honors at Ohio Cremation and Memorial Society, 5464 N. High Street, Columbus, Ohio 43214. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
