Mary Beatrice Brown, age 90 of Ashley, Ohio, died Friday June 25, 2021. Mary was born June 25, 1931 in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada where she married Forrest Eugene Brown in St. Veronica’s Church, May 31, 1952. Together they shared over 50 years. Mary is survived by her daughter Michele and son Keith. She is preceded in death by her husband Forrest, siblings: Mildred, Leo, Fernard, Charles, Felicity, Colleen, three stillbirths, beloved fur children: Fluffy, Coale Bugs, Mitzy Marie, Fred Edward and Whisper June. Mary was a 30 year employee of the State of Ohio, Department of Liquor Control-permit Division in Columbus. She was previously employed by the Bureau of Workers Compensation and the Bron Shoe Company, who was well known for bronzing baby shoes. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and her husband a member of Hiram Masonic Lodge. Born in Sault Ste Marie, she lived there until marring Forrest and moving to his home of Columbus. The past 50 years She, Forrest and their daughter Michele made their home in Ashley, Ohio. Mary loved to knit and crochet, gifting to many people throughout her life. She was self sacrificing, not a social person but she and Forrest were generous in their ever present desire to help others. She loved to fish and travel with her husband, attending reunions of The USS Pensacola CA 24, the ship on which he served during WWII. She was crowned Miss Croatia at age 16 of the United Croatia Society in Sault Ste Marie. She became a United States Citizen on August 30, 1961. Michele would like to thank: Thelma Berry, who called Mary twice a day to check on her. Also to the many Nurses and Doctors that tended to her at Grady Memorial Hospital with a warm thank you to Night Nurse Elaine who was so loving and gentle during her final hours. Also thank you to Michele’s support team of Jane and Connie. A Private service with Military Honors will be held at Dayton National Cemetery. Contributions may be made to any Animal Humane Society in memory of Mary.
