Melody Lynn Burns


 

Melody Lynn Burns, age 61, of Worthington, Ohio passed away on May 19th, 2020.She went peacefully at home surrounded by her loved ones, following a 32-year battle with breast cancer. She was born on February 28th, 1959 in Allentown Pennsylvania to the late Linford and Elaine (Knerr) Neimeyer. In 1963 she moved to Marion, Ohio where she later attended Marion Harding High School and studied at the Mansfield Business College. On December 13th, 1980 she married John H. Burns II at Epworth United Methodist Church in Marion, Ohio. Together they shared 39 wonderful years together. She moved to Worthington, Ohio in 1992, where she worked at Victoria’s Secret Catalogue and Jon-Jay Associates. In 1993, she received the Impact Award for her outstanding effort and contribution to Victoria’s Secret Catalogue. The most precious thing to Melody was her family, she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed talking with friends, going for walks in nature, and working on jigsaw and sudoku puzzles. She was very passionate about landscaping and gardening. One of her favorite memories was her trip to Kauai, and ziplining through the beautiful landscapes that were featured in Jurassic Park, which was one of her favorite movies. Melody was a strong, compassionate, snarky woman with a beautiful and unforgettable smile. She was survived by her husband, John; her daughter Joy (Tim) Merryman; her grandchildren, Destiny, Kaylah, Makenna, and Mikey; and her beloved cat Yin Yang. She is loved dearly and will be deeply missed. She is preceded in death by her loving parents and her eldest daughter, Harmony Ridgeway. A celebration of Melody’s life will be held at Marion Cemetery at a later date, in honor of her wishes. Anyone who is interested can stay updated on Melody’s facebook page.     Tim and I are so sorry for your loss. Melody was a strong, amazing and caring woman. She fought a long & hard battle. She will be missed. I will miss seeing her working in the yard moving her plants around the yard.

    I remember meeting you at church in Marion. I also remember when she had that lump. What a time she has been thru but she smiled and was up beat. What a gift from God, Melody was an angel on earth. Anyone who knew her was blessed. I know I was.

    Hi John and kids and family and friends. I have been praying for you all. Melody was such a sweet friend to me. She would tell me what herbs to take to help me feel better. Thank you melody. Love you friend. We both love doing sudoku and jigsaw puzzle.. I will be keeping u all in my prayers.

    I am truly so sorry for your loss. Melody has been my friend since high school and recently we have been talking so much about our younger selves. She is an amazing spirit and one of a kind.
