Michael was a much loved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, brother-in-law and friend. Michael Leroy Watson, 66, of Columbus and Lancaster Ohio, unexpectedly passed away peacefully on January 12, 2018. He entered the Lord’s Kingdom from Fairfield Medical Center in Lancaster, Ohio surrounded by his family and loved ones. Michael had bravely confronted and fought his battle with heart failure and other vital health conditions.
On August 6, 1951 he was born to the parents of Rosemary Knox Watson and William Eugene Watson at University Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents (Rosemary and Eugene Watson) and his sister, Marion Wilson. He gave his life to Christ at an early age with his then home church, Zion Hill Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Ida of 45 years; three children, son, Michael D. Watson, daughters, April (Tyrone) Adams and Sommer; special friend, Barry Haynes; brother, William W (Linda) Watson; sisters, Charline (Alphonso) Jordan and Joyce Bush, all of Columbus, Ohio. Michael has 15 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He worked at General Electric, Ross Laboratory, Children’s Hospital, Crane Plastic and Ohio State University. Hobbies were: shooting pool, skating, singing and listening to R & B music. His proudest achievements were of completion of his work in Dry Wall and Carpentry.
The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by his Interim Health Care Nurse, Kelly Short and his attentive Aides assigned to him, the staff at Crestview Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Services, the Fairfield Disability Center and the Fairfield Medical Center all of Lancaster, Ohio.
He fought a good fight, he kept the faith, and he won the race. May you now rest in peace: my husband, my father, my grandfather, my brother, my brother-in-law and my friend.
