Nancy Sue Tettenhorst, age 81, of Columbus, Ohio passed away peacefully on March 10, 2019 at Riverside Methodist Hospital. On September 14, 1937, she was born in Elmhurst, Illinois, the daughter of the late Alvin LeRoy Mathis and Sue Ellen (Lay) Mathis. Nancy is survived by her daughter, Robin Rock of Powell, Ohio; sons, Jay (Victoria) Tettenhorst of Winter Garden, Florida and Guy Tettenhorst of Defiance, Ohio; eight grandchildren; and her cat, Izzy. She is preceded in death by her parents; stepmother, Emily Mathis; stepfather, Glenn Zellhoefer; and infant daughter, Jill Ann Tettenhorst. Nancy worked as a Registered Dietician for the State of Ohio’s WIC Program. She loved to travel, loved hiking, nature and was an avid bird watcher. Nancy’s proudest achievement was rescuing and adopting many furry friends including: Daisy, Elvis, Red, TC and Izzy. She volunteered for many organizations throughout her lifetime. One that was special to her was volunteering at Highbanks Metro Park for many years. A private family ceremony will be held at a later date.
