Richard B. McCourt

Richard Bryan McCourt, age 69, of Columbus, OH passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 at home following a 10 month battle with cancer. The son of Robert & Ava McCourt, he was born on December 14, 1951 in Ft. Knox, KY. He married Barbara at the Silver Bells Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, NV. Richard was a proud U.S. Army Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. After serving his country in the U.S. Army, Richard went on to work as an IBEW Marine Electrician and a School Bus Driver.

Richard grew up in West Virginia and lived there until he was 15 years old. He was a part of a military family and moved with his family to Seattle, WA once his father retired from the military. He later moved to Kentucky, Indiana and finally Ohio. Some of Richard’s favorite hobbies were to travel, collect coins, shoot photography and spending time with his family. Richard’s proudest achievements were completing two years at Clover Park Technical College, his military service, serving his country and being a Grandpa. What made him unique was his sense of humor.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara; five brothers; two sisters; three children; four grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Special acknowledgement to Carla Collins, Cigna Oncology Case Manager, AFSCME, United Staff Union members, and Heartland Hospice of Columbus with a sincere thank you to nurses Tish and Kelly.

A memorial service with full military honors will take place at 2:30 pm on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, 6980 Danville Rd., Nicholasville, KY 40356.
