Richard W. Maurer, a baptized child of God, was born on April 15,1926 to Julius E. and Helen M. Maurer. He passed away peacefully on July 25, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. Dick grew up in Geneva, Ohio. Upon graduation from high school, Dick enlisted in the United States Navy and served two years in Okinawa. After completing his service Dick graduated from Ohio Wesleyan University in 1950 where he met his wife, Helen. They were married June 24, 1950 and lived in Cleveland Hts. and Chagrin Falls for 65 years. Dick worked for Fisher Foods, Inc. for over 30 years where he was a buyer, then vice president of sales and marketing. He was an active member of the Church of the Saviour UMC where he made many life long friendships. Dick is preceded in death by his wife Helen and his brother David Maurer; is survived by his children Rick [Kim] Maurer, Marty [Clark] Elliot; grandchildren Clark [Stephanie], Val, Maggie and Jackie; 2 great grandchildren; brother George [Betty] Maurer; sister in law Marlene Maurer; and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 a.m. July 31, 2019 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church 5475 Brand Rd. Dublin, Ohio 43017. Visitation at the church one hour prior to the service.
