Robert E. Burris

Robert E. Burris, 83, of Columbus, passed peacefully away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Mt. Carmel East. Bob was born on December 11, 1933 to Bill and Ruth Burris. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, who was always there to lend a helping hand. Bob will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by his family and many friends. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Nancy Lee Burris, his parents Bill and Ruth, and sister Retha. Bob is survived by his son Steven (Joetta) Burris; daughter, Susie (Curt) Barger; grandchildren Katie, Kyle and Jacob Barger, Andrew Melchert and Jena Clerico; sister Beverly Daniels and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews. It was Bob’s wish that there be no visitation or funeral service, just remember him in your hearts.

Death and love are the two wings that bear the good man to heaven. (Michelangelo). Above everything, Bob was truly a good man. He is now resting in eternity with the love of his life.

The members and officers of Central Ohio Coon Hunters Assn. wish to convey our deepest sympathy to the Burris Family.
Bob was much liked and will be missed by those who knew him. It was always a treat to see Bob at the club we enjoyed his sense of humor and friendly disposition.

  • Scott Sutherland says:

Uncle Bob stood out in my life as my favorite uncle and a man with a great heart. He had a great sense of humor and he pulled hundreds of “fast ones” on me throughout my life. While attending the University of Michigan, Uncle Bob and Aunt Nancy always made me feel welcome and I spent several holidays and portions of school breaks in their home. I am grateful for the ethics and attitudes that I managed to pick up from them over the years. They were both great role models. Rest in peace, Uncle Bob. You have rejoined my amazing Aunt Nancy and can rest together for eternity.

  • Nancy Sittig Berg says:

Deepest sympathy being sent to the Burris family. Our family could not have asked for a more kind and thoughtful neighbor. We always enjoyed seeing Bob ride his bike around the neighborhood and appreciated his visits.

  • Susan Hauser says:

Our sincere sympathy to Susie,Steve and the rest of the Burris family.
Mr Burris, as we always called him, holds a very special place in our hearts. He was the best neighbor anyone could have ever ask for. No matter what you needed he had it and if he didn’t he’d make something else work. My sons still have and treasure the tool bags he made them after high school graduation. One of the most exciting days in my husbands life was when Mr. Burris gave him his garage code and said if he ever needed anything to help himself!!! He was kind and generous with his talents and his time. He and Nancy are fondly remembered.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
