Robert L. Salyers

Robert L. Salyers, 86, of Columbus, Ohio passed away Monday, November 14, 2016 at Mount Carmel West Hospital.  Robert is survived by his wife of almost 55 years, Madelyn D. Pearson Salyers; 13 children; 14 siblings; too many grandchildren and great-grandchildren to count; many extended family members and a long lifetime of friends.  Robert was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and friend.  Robert loved carpentry, remodeling and designing homes.  Robert loved a wide range of sports and activities to include The Ohio State Buckeyes, Horseshoes, Billiards, Poker, and WWE Wrestling just to name a few.  Robert was a WWII and Korean War Veteran and was recently nominated and traveled to Washington, D.C. on a Korean Honors Flight.  To honor Robert’s wishes, the family will not be holding a Memorial Service, however, a “Time of Remembering” event will be held at a later date to honor Robert’s memory and all that he meant to so many people.

In Memory of My Dad

If I could write a story

It would be the greatest ever told

Of a kind and loving father

Who had a heart of gold

If I could write a million pages

But still be unable to say, just how

Much I love and miss him

Every single day

I will remember all he taught me

I’m hurt but won’t be sad

Because he’ll send me down the answers

And he’ll always be MY DAD

This is life at it’s lowest…But there were many moments life soared…

Dad enjoyed many of life’s highs.
Seen a lot of the world… And changed many lives with his presence.
Many will grieve, and miss his face…
hold on to your memories, spend a little time in your past with Dad.
