Rose Casey Doyle

Rose Casey Doyle, age 94 of Westerville, Monday December 28, 2020 at Parkside Village Community in Westerville following a brief battle with the Covid-19 virus. Rose was born July 6, 1926 in Detroit, Michigan, the daughter of the late James and Margaret (McGarry) Casey. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Timothy and Katherine Doyle of Westerville, grandsons Kevin (Whitney) Doyle and Stephen (Leah) Doyle, 6 great-grandchildren; siblings: Catherine Corcoran, Mary Carew, Marguerite Casey, Joseph Casey, John Casey and Colleen Done; and dozens of nieces and nephews. Rose grew up and worked in Detroit and the surrounding suburbs, relocating to Ohio in 2017 to be closer to her son and his family. Rose survived the Great Depression, the Second World War, General Motors, the Catholic Church and the challenge of raising a teen-age boy by herself through the turbulent 60’s. The family is exceptionally grateful for the loving care and professionalism exhibited by the several nurses from Cap City Hospice. A mass and a private family memorial service will be held at a future date.  Contributions in her memory may be directed to Capuchin Soup Kitchen of Detroit, 1820 Mount Elliott Street Detroit MI 48207.

  • Colleen says:

I’m so sad to have lost my “biggest” sister. She was a role model for all single moms, and she took on those challenges at a time that today’s single moms can not imagine.
    Rest in peace, Rose.
    Colleen

  • Catherine says:

There will always be a place in my heart for you, Rose. You were such a good example as the eldest in such a large family. Thank you for your love and your friendship.
    Love you always.
    Cath

  • Br Nick Blattner Ofm Capuchin says:

On behalf of the Capuchin brothers I offer my deepest sympathies on the passing of Rose. It is truly humbling to receive memorial donations in honor of Rose’s life. Please be assured of the brother’s prayers for the entire Doyle family during this great time of grief. May perpetual light shine upon Rose.

  • Joe Corcoran says:

Aunt Rose was very kind to me when I was quite ill several years ago. She sent me numerous cards and letters and we had a lot of fun writing back and forth to each other.

I’ll always remember her for taking time to encourage, console and entertain me.

She also took a special interest in my granddaughter Evelyn, which delighted me.

I’ll really miss you Aunt Rose!

    Much love,

    Joe Corcoran

  • Joyce Hassler says:

My dear sweet Rose.. as a nurse at Parkside I so enjoyed seeing the love that you and your son, Tim shared. I will miss taking care of you, putting your hearing aids in and your quick wit that surprise me at times! I know you are with the Lord now and and you will never have to worry how your hair looks again as it will be perfect! Until we meet again. Love you Rose
