Rose Marie Swagler, age 89 of Sunbury, OH passed away October 22, 2019 at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital in Westerville, OH. She was born on February 6, 1930 in Madison County, OH to the late Ceryl Aro and Coral “Ferne” Benjamin Hotchkiss. On April 12, 1952, she married her loving husband, James Swagler. They shared over 55 years of marriage together. Throughout her life, she lived in many locations in Ohio. She lived in Madison and Pickaway counties before settling down in Delaware County. Rose Marie enjoyed sewing and working on her yard. She could usually be found at home or shopping at flea markets and garage sales where she would collect glassware, figurines, books, and jewelry. Her greatest achievement was raising three children and being a grandmother and great grandmother. After high school, she went to Bliss Business College. While still in her teens, Rose Marie learned how to play the accordion and was a proud member of an accordion band. Rose Marie was an active member of the Twins Club and Farm Bureau. She is survived by her three children, Sharon Law of Sarasota, FL, Sheryl Dew of Delaware, OH, and David Swagler of Ashley, OH; grandchildren, Heather (Jamie) Caldwell of Sarasota, FL, Brandy Law of Parrish, FL, Christal E. Ammerman of Marion, OH, Kimberly R. Swagler of Delaware, OH, and Carly D. Swagler of Ashley, OH; and great-grandchildren, Skylar Caldwell, Konnor Law, Madyson Law, Payton Ammerman, Robert Ammerman, Madilyn Ammerman, Chance Ammerman, Grayson Abrahams, Dillon Swisher, and Henry Swisher. Rose Marie was preceded in death by her husband, James Swagler; parents, Ceryl and Coral “Ferne” Hotchkiss; and her granddaughter, Samantha Swagler. The family would like to extend a thank you to the kind nurses at Mount Carmel St. Ann’s Hospital and Mount Carmel Hospice for taking such good care of Rose Marie.
