Susan Jane Warner


Susan Jane (Bloomquist) Warner, age 85, of Columbus, OH passed away on Monday, June 28, 2021. The daughter of Earl Winfield and Hazel Anna (Dorn) Bloomquist, she was born on November 30, 1935 in Lima, OH. On December 24, 1960 she married John Henry Warner in Ithaca, NY and together they shared 12 years of marriage before his passing in 1972.

Surviving are her daughter, Erica Warner (Joseph Lafferre); grandson, Joshua (Doresta) Kirchner; and great-granddaughters, Amelia Jane and Lynnex Rose.

Susan worked as an editorial assistant at The Ohio State University and retired in 2003 after 20 years of service.  She was a member of the King Ave. United Methodist Church. Susan grew up in Youngstown, OH; she lived in Ithaca, NY from 1958 – 1972 and then moved to Columbus, OH. Susan went to Rayen High School in Youngstown and later graduated from Kalamazoo College in 1958.

Most of all Susan enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She also loved reading, music, nature, animals, volunteering, and knitting.  She was a champion for peace and social justice and was a rebel by nature. She was loved for her sweet, kind and helpful spirit, her sense of humor and intelligence.

Special thanks to Susan’s friends, Steven Harvey and Andrea Maynard; as well as Bella Care Hospice staff Mike and Greg, the Forest Hills Nursing team, and the staff at CCRC.

A celebration of life will take place on Saturday, July 31, 2021 from 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Blendon Woods Metro Park (Ranger Station Shelter), 4265 E. Dublin Granville Rd. Columbus, OH.

Susan will be memorialized in the Union Cemetery Scattering Garden/Bell Tower in Columbus, Ohio.

    I was saddened to see Susan had died. But I know she had a wonderful life. Please accept my deepest sympathy. Eternal rest grant unto Susan, O Lord and may perpetual light upon her. May her soul, and all the souls of the departed, Rest In Peace.
