Teresa Ann McCollister went home February 9, 2020. She was born in Ironton, Ohio on August 6, 1951 to Joseph Randall McCollister and Erma Katherine McGraw. Preceded in death by her mother, brother Randy McCollister, nephew Cory Ferguson and niece Harmony Ferguson. Survived by son Michael Scott Dole, father, and sisters Lori (James) Cannan, Brenda (Sidney) Stover and Amy McCollister and nephews Bryan and Brandon Ferguson and Chris Cannan. She attended Ohio State University where she earned a BS in Allied Health, Medical Communications and a MS in Preventive Medicine/Public Health which led to a career in Public Health. However, she found her true passion midlife when she received her nursing degree. Once a nurse, always a nurse as she gave to her patients in the same way she was so incredibly generous with her family and friends. This was borne out even in her final months as a resident in a skilled nursing facility as she shared her knowledge with staff and became Aunt Terry to everyone there. Other survivors who will miss her beyond belief are Trish Brown Cordes (Sam Cordes) and Karen (Kevin) Kanning and her pups Tigg and Fuji. Although her generosity—perhaps to a fault—was her signature characteristic, she was also known for her quick wit, wicked sense of humor, warmth and kind heart. Finally, anyone who ever experienced her incredibly tasty deserts, especially her rum cake, will never forget her. Her ashes will be scattered in the Ohio River near her hometown of Ironton. She always loved to travel. Rest in peace dear friend. We will miss you and never forget you! Her family and friends want to thank the staff and physicians at Riverside’s Neuro ICU and Kobacker House for the support they provided. Should you wish to contribute in Terry’s honor, please send donations to SOS of Ohio, 3121 W. Broad St., Columbus, OH 43204, a non-profit clinic which provides discount veterinarian services.
