Todd Alan Helman

Todd Alan Helman, age 53, of Gahanna, Ohio passed away December 23, 2019 at his home surrounded by family following a long battle with cancer.  He was born on May 31, 1966 at Grady Memorial Hospital to Chester L. Helman and Vicky Curtis Doutt.  Todd loved plants and gardening.  He worked at Oakland Nursery in Delaware and worked for 14 years at Abercrombie and Fitch.  Every home he lived in had a beautiful yard and was beautifully decorated with antiques.  Every holiday was special to him.  One of his favorite things to do would be to listen to old country or gospel music and drive his Camaro Convertible.  He was so proud of that car.  It was the car of his dreams and was his, “baby.”  Todd was so special in that he always knew what you wanted or needed and if he could, he would try his hardest to get it for you.  Todd is survived by his mother, Vicky Curtis Doutt; partner; Robert Harrison; brother, Tim (Tonya) Helman; sisters, Melissa (Billy) Glassburn, Jodi Helman, and Heather (Terry); and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.  He had a very big and loving family.  Todd was preceded in death by his father, Chester Helman; grandparents, Vesta and Richard Helman, and John R. Curtis and Betty (Curtis) Ward; uncle, Kenny Helman; and Cousins, Bianca Coon and Carl Helman.  Todd’s family would like to extend a special thanks to Ron Salyers who visited Todd weekly.  They would also like to thank all of their friends and family for all of their calls and prayers.  Per Todd’s request, there will be no services.  Inurnment will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Delaware, Ohio.  Memorial contributions may be made to OhioHealth Hospice or St. Jude’s in Todd’s name.  Please visit www.ohiocremation.org to leave online condolences for Todd’s family.

When I was down, Todd always brought me up. He was fun to work with and always helped when needed. I remember, one day he came in to work and said he joined the camero, convertible group. He made me chuckle, because I have one too. I will miss him, but I know I will see him again. RIP my friend.
