Vivian “Peggy” Bashian (nee Dunbar), age 88, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2019. She was born and raised in Lehighton, Pennsylvania and attended Zion United Church of Christ. She graduated from Lehighton High School in 1949 and from Allentown Hospital School of Nursing in 1953. Peggy worked as an RN for many years and was a wonderful, dedicated nurse who loved caring for her patients. While in nursing school, she met and later married Dr. John Bashian at Grace United Church of Christ in Allentown, Pennsylvania. They eventually settled in Mentor, Ohio where she worked in his private practice. She was a stay-at-home mom for many years. Peggy later returned to her nursing career and also cared for her mother. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, and enjoyed being involved in their activities. She volunteered at the Lake County Memorial Hospital Women’s Auxiliary, Mentor Public Schools, Meals on Wheels, and Hope Ridge United Methodist Church. She loved to cook and entertain. Peggy had a sweet smile, reflecting her joyful spirit and friendly personality. She was a selfless giver to others, even in her final years. She was a beloved friend, had a good sense of humor, and was full of goodness and kindness. Peggy will be forever loved by her children and grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. John Bashian; parents, Justin and Helen Dunbar; sister, Justine Leh. Peggy is survived by son, John Bashian of Cleveland, OH; daughters, Carol (Tim) Cole of Columbus, OH and Deborah Bashian of Cleveland, OH; grandson, Ryan Cole of Columbus, OH and granddaughter, Lauren (Rusty) Lewis of Columbus, OH. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Worthington Christian Village, 165 Highbluffs Blvd., Columbus, OH 43235. A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at Grace Powell Church, 7600 Liberty Road North, Powell, OH 43065.
